In November 2016 I visited a nursing home in the Netherlands. Although the facility did not look that inviting, the atmosphere once inside, was really great. The caretakers and volunteers did their best to create a feeling of coziness to the occupants of the nursing home. I was impressed with the efforts they made to give the inhabitants the extra care. They organized coffee breaks, special lunch events, hobby gatherings, etc.
When I visited, a few lady volunteers baked pancakes which the people really enjoyed. Stichting A-Wareness ( http://www.stichtinga-wareness.com/) facilitated Maria Oord in having pictures taken from the inhabitants. They all had their own character and ways of communicating, but in general they felt special and they most definitely made me feel honored to take these pictures of them. Beautiful people.
